British Guidelines on the Management of Asthma acknowledges Buteyko
Since the clinical trial in Brisbane in 1995, several more quality trials have been
conducted and published. Based on these studies, the British Guidelines on the management
of asthma, released in May 2008, states:
"The Buteyko breathing technique may be considered to help patients to control the symptoms of asthma."
The Guidelines are sponsored by the

- College of Emergency Medicine
- Royal College of Physicians
- General Practice Airways Group.
This is not the final result we want, but it is an incredibly important step that has been achieved after 18 years of
lobbying, pushing, promoting the Buteyko method and especially teaching it.
