From:Tony Callender

I am 56 years old and since about the age of 4 have been suffering from asthma, more or less chronically.

In recent years I have been "dependent" on the standard 2 puffs twice a day of Salmeterol (Serevent) and Fluticasone (Flixotide) with the odd 2 puffs of Salbutamol (Ventolin) prior to sport.

One week ago I attended a four-evening Buteyko seminar given by Alexandra Stalmatski (I had read his paperback book prior to attendance and had been practising the MP a little).

One week later, I was no longer taking any salmeterol and I was taking just one puff once a day of fluticasone (with one puff of ventolin 30 minutes before playing sport - which I expect to stop doing soon). After two weeks I am in the same happy state and "over the moon" about it.

To say that that is a dramatic change in my dependence would be a gross understatement and I believe that I will be able to reduce my medication even further. It seems to me that the facts speak for themselves and regardless of what theory is postulated, the Buteyko method works.

My reaction is one of amazement that I have had to use so much medication for so much of my life when it now seems to have been almost totally unnecessary and I have been able to almost eradicate it virtually overnight. Not only that, I am feeling so much better and the various side-effects of the medication have likewise disappeared.
